I have a peculiar tendency to take what happens in fictional books, TV shows, and movies quite seriously.  When we are watching TV and my wife sees me reacting viscerally to the fate of some character on the screen, she says, “Hey, take it easy, Jimmy.  It isn’t real. It’s a movie, remember?”  “Oh, yeah,” I reply.  But a few minutes later, I’m engrossed again and I’m reacting as if the drama is happening to me or a friend of mine.
